KABUL: Jeffrey Epstein was born on January 20, 1953, in Brooklyn, New York, to a Jewish family. He had a generally normal childhood and adolescence but began his higher education at New York University and later at Cooper Union, both of which he left before completing. Afterward, Epstein started his career as a teacher, teaching mathematics at a private school in New York despite not having a formal teaching certificate, and then entered the financial sector through connections. In the 1970s, he began working at the large financial firm Bear Stearns, where he quickly rose through the ranks. He later established his own company and introduced himself as a money manager for wealthy clients. Epstein claimed to have billions in assets, although the main sources of his income were never clearly defined. He positioned himself among the wealthy elite, including politicians, businessmen, members of royal families, and financial advisors, but official documentation regarding his wealth was quite limited. He owned properties in various locations, including a mansion in New York, a wealthy home in Florida, and a private island in the U.S. Virgin Islands known as Little St. James, along with a private jet famous as the “Lolita Express.” Additionally, Epstein faced numerous allegations of sexual abuse and trafficking of underage girls for years. Many victims claimed they were promised money, subjected to coercion, and introduced to wealthy associates. As a result of numerous accusations, he was convicted in 2008 in Florida on charges related to a case involving a plea deal that resulted in 13 months in jail. He was arrested again in 2019, this time facing federal charges that included serious crimes of sex trafficking. His arrest garnered international media attention, particularly due to his connections with many influential individuals. Jeffrey Epstein on August 10, 2019, was found dead in a federal jail in New York.
