KABUL: Local sources in western Kabul report that the Taliban has restricted activities related to the Neema-e-Shabaan (middle of Shabaan) religious observances by prohibiting the display of flags and religious slogans. Sources indicate that the Taliban forcibly removed flags displayed around markets, mosques, and homes. The restrictions have hindered the observance of Neema-e-Shabaan ceremonies, preventing people from conducting their religious practices. Before the Taliban’s takeover, Shia communities widely celebrated the Neema-e-Shabaan, also recognized as the “Night of Salvation” in Afghanistan. The Taliban has previously enforced extensive restrictions on various religious ceremonies in Afghanistan, such as Ashura.
