KABUL: As part of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s two-day official visit to Riyadh, a bilateral meeting between Saudi Arabia and Turkey was held on Tuesday, with the attendance of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Erdoğan at the Al-Yamamah Palace. According to official statements, the two sides agreed to upgrade their bilateral relations to a high level and emphasized their mutual efforts to ensure sustainable peace in Palestine. Supporting stability in Yemen, Syria, and Somalia, as well as defending the sovereignty and territorial integrity of these nations, were also highlighted during the meeting. The Turkish presidency noted that Erdoğan emphasized expanding cooperation in renewable energy and defense industries and mentioned that Ankara will work in coordination with Riyadh for the reconstruction of Syria. At the conclusion of the summit, four cooperation agreements were signed between the two countries. The meeting comes as Turkey and Saudi Arabia have been enhancing their economic and political relations in recent years, with reconstruction efforts in Syria and cooperation in energy and defense being key topics of bilateral discussions.
