KABUL: Human Rights Watch in its annual report, warns that human rights violations and the suppression of citizens by the Taliban have intensified in 2025. According to the report, the Taliban has escalated restrictions on the rights of women and girls, imposed new regulations to limit media freedom, and continued practices such as arbitrary executions, corporal punishment, and the disappearance of individuals. The organization notes that the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan has worsened. Widespread forced repatriations of migrants from Iran and Pakistan, combined with a drastic decline in foreign aid, have left millions without adequate access to food, shelter, and healthcare. Attacks by the Taliban on media, civil society, and minorities continue, while international aid, including from the United States, has sharply decreased. Human Rights Watch warns that without effective international action, the human rights situation and humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan will continue to deteriorate.
