KABUL: Adila Raz, former ambassador of Afghanistan to the United Nations, has been appointed by António Guterres, the UN Secretary-General, to the Independent Advisory Board of the Multidimensional Vulnerability Index (MVI) for the term 2026 to 2030. The United Nations announced in a statement that this board is established to strengthen the Multidimensional Vulnerability Index and provide evidence-based assessments of the structural vulnerability of developing countries. According to the announcement, board members will play an important and independent role in reviewing the index every three years, monitoring countries’ progress, and providing policy recommendations. The advisory board consists of 15 experts from various countries specializing in economic, social, environmental development, and resilience. Representatives from governmental institutions, civil society, and academia are also included. The Advisory Board on the Multidimensional Vulnerability Index will hold its first meeting in 2026 and begin preparations for the first three-year review of the index in 2028.
