GAZA: Bisan Odeh, a Palestinian journalist and Emmy Award winner, announced that her TikTok account, which had over 1.4 million followers, has been permanently banned. In a video from Gaza on Wednesday, she expressed that she had worked for four years to build her account but found it deleted without any prior warning. Bisan mentioned that while she expected some restrictions, she did not anticipate a total ban. The journalist speculated that this action may be linked to the American ownership of TikTok and political pressures related to Israel on content concerning the Gaza conflict. Known for her daily reports on the situation of people in Gaza, Bisan would often say, “This is Bisan from Gaza, and I am still alive,” reflecting the realities of war and the suffering of the people. Her documentary received an Emmy Award in 2024 for news reporting. The incident comes as Israel continues to restrict journalists’ access to Gaza, and dozens of Palestinian journalists have lost their lives during the ongoing conflict.
