KABUL: In recent days, various Taliban-affiliated propaganda networks and social media accounts have circulated reports claiming that Zalmay Khalilzad stated that the international community would soon recognize the Taliban. Khalilzad has rejected these claims, calling the reports as “fake.” He communicated to a Taliban member that the information is inaccurate and fabricated. Halim Fedai, the governor of the republic, stated that the Taliban are misusing Khalilzad’s name and address for political propaganda, spreading false information through both fake and genuine accounts. Fedai added that such actions are indicative of an irresponsible government, and claimed that the Taliban are not only misleading in politics but also in matters of religion, attempting to deceive the public. Reports indicate that the Taliban have previously and continue to attempt to utilize the names of numerous prominent figures, politicians, and even female addresses to propagate information benefiting themselves and the group.
