RIYADH: Mohammed bin Salman, the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, stated during a phone call with Masoud Pezeshkian, the President of Iran, that Riyadh will not permit the use of its airspace or territory for military actions against Tehran and supports efforts to resolve conflicts through dialogue. Earlier, Pezeshkian mentioned that Tehran welcomes any process that prevents war and adheres to international law. The remarks come after a similar statement from the UAE, which announced that it would not allow any military action against Iran using its airspace or waters. Last week, Donald Trump indicated that a “fleet” was heading toward Iran but expressed hope that it would not be necessary to utilize it. Two U.S. officials also confirmed that an aircraft carrier and support ships have arrived in the Middle East. Iran continues to face protests that human rights groups say have resulted in thousands of casualties. Iranian authorities have attributed these incidents to “terrorists and instigators.”
