KABUL: Following the attack on Monday at a restaurant jointly owned by Afghan and Chinese citizens in Shahr-e-Naw of Kabul, the United Nations Security Council stated that terrorism, in all its forms and manifestations, represents one of the most serious threats to peace and security in Afghanistan and globally. Council members condemned the attack in the strongest terms and expressed sympathy with the families of the victims from both Afghanistan and China. They emphasized the necessity of holding accountable the organizers, financiers, and supporters of terrorist actions and bringing them to justice. The Security Council also called on countries to actively cooperate with relevant authorities in accordance with their commitments under international law and related resolutions. According to reports, an explosion occurred on Monday afternoon at a restaurant located in the “Gul Feroshi” area in the capital Kabul. The Taliban police announced that this restaurant was jointly operated by citizens of Afghanistan and China. The blast resulted in the deaths of six Afghan citizens and one Chinese citizen, with another 13 individuals wounded. The ISIS group claimed responsibility for the explosion, stating that the suicide attacker detonated explosives after a gathering of Chinese citizens.
