OTTAWA: Mark Carney, the Prime Minister of Canada, stated at the World Economic Forum in Davos that the U.S.-led global order has come to an end and will not return. He added that the new world is one where economic integration and financial infrastructures are wielded as “weapons” by hegemonic powers, particularly the United States, to impose economic pressure. Carney expressed his opposition to the U.S. imposing additional tariffs on European countries over Greenland-related disputes and reaffirmed Canada’s support for Denmark’s sovereignty over Greenland. He also emphasized Canada’s willingness to forge new coalitions with like-minded countries. The remarks come in the context of Donald Trump threatening to impose an additional 10% tariff on eight European countries next month, a move that European nations have opposed.
