KABUL: Mohammad Sadiq, Pakistan’s Special Representative, and Yao Xiaoyong, China’s Special Representative for Afghanistan, discussed the regional security situation and the ongoing threat of terrorism. Sadiq posted on his X social media account on Monday that the discussion was conducted online. According to the Pakistani representative, both parties reiterated their commitment to continue collaboration to ensure regional stability. In his message, he noted, “In this meeting, the latest regional developments, the security situation, and the ongoing threat of terrorism were discussed.” This comes on the heels of an incident last month in which at least five Chinese citizens were killed in an attack launched from Afghanistan near the Tajikistan border. Islamabad has consistently accused the Taliban of supporting the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). However, the Taliban claim that Afghanistan is secure and that there is no transnational threat posed by them to other countries.
