WASHINGTON: The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) has announced that American forces have killed Bilal Hassan al-Jassem, a leader affiliated with al-Qaeda, in Syria. Reuters reported that the U.S. command revealed that al-Jassem had connections with a member of ISIS and was involved in the December 13 attack on American forces in the city of Palmyra, Syria. CENTCOM stated that the death of this individual underscores the United States’ commitment to pursuing and targeting groups that conduct attacks against American personnel. According to the statement, following the December attack, U.S. forces have intensified their operations against ISIS in Syria, declaring that they have targeted over 100 ISIS positions during this period.
