ISLAMABAD: Ali Amin Gandapur, the former Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has stated that there is “clear and documented” evidence showing that Afghan soil is being used to carry out terrorist attacks against Pakistan. Gandapur on Friday, claimed in Islamabad that both the provincial and federal governments of Pakistan possess concrete evidence of armed group infiltration from across the Durand Line. He added that the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) organizes its attacks from Afghan territory, noting that some of the perpetrators of suicide attacks have been Afghan nationals. The former Chief Minister further mentioned that the Taliban of Afghanistan are aware of TTP activities, and several Afghan citizens involved in terrorist incidents in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have been arrested. He emphasized that while Pakistan desires good relations with the Taliban, its national security is “non-negotiable.” The statements come amid rising tensions between Pakistan and the Taliban of Afghanistan regarding the activities of terrorist groups, leading to the closure of all border crossings between the two sides in recent months.
