KABUL: According to the latest Henley Passport Index assessment for 2026, Afghanistan’s passport has once again placed at the bottom of the global rankings. The report indicates that Afghan passport holders can only travel to 24 destinations without prior visa arrangements. Singapore has maintained its position as the strongest passport in the world, allowing its citizens visa-free travel to 192 countries. The Henley Passport Index ranks passports worldwide based on the number of countries to which holders can travel without a visa. According to the evaluation, the gap between the strongest and weakest passports has reached 168 countries in 2026, demonstrating a significant increase in global travel inequality. The report also notes that this inequality has markedly increased since 2006, when the difference between the U.S. passport and that of Afghanistan was 118 destinations. The situation directly impacts the travel restrictions, educational opportunities, and business prospects of Afghan citizens, further limiting their access to international interactions.
