TEHRAN: Britain announced on Wednesday that it has temporarily closed its embassy in Tehran. According to reports, a British official stated that the British ambassador and all consulate staff were evacuated based on security assessments and in prioritization of employee safety. This move comes as Iranian authorities attempt to control widespread protests against the Islamic regime, coinciding with repeated threats of intervention by U.S. President Donald Trump. Additionally, Britain and the United States have reportedly withdrawn several personnel from military bases in the Middle East after a senior Iranian official declared that Tehran had warned neighboring countries that if Washington attacks Iran, American bases in the region would be targeted.
