Organization of Islamic Cooperation finalizes agenda for Contact Group’s visit to Kabul

KABUL: Diplomats from member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) emphasized the importance of a coordinated approach to engage with Afghanistan during a technical meeting held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. They noted that such coordination could play a crucial role in ensuring the effectiveness of the upcoming visit of the OIC’s ministerial contact group to Kabul. Reports indicate that Kazakhstan’s Consul General in Jeddah and the country’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the OIC, Ruslan Kapanov, also participated in the meeting. Sources indicate that this technical meeting was convened as part of preparations for the OIC ministerial contact group’s forthcoming visit to Afghanistan. Participants labeled the meeting as a pivotal phase in coordinating joint efforts among OIC member states for the upcoming visit. The primary focus was on evaluating organizational and technical issues and finalizing the agenda for the contact group’s trip to Kabul. Additionally, the diplomats exchanged views on key aspects of future activities and underscored the importance of aligning the positions of OIC member states regarding Afghanistan.
