WASHINGTON: As a result of a widespread shooting near the Alabama border in Mississippi, six people, including a seven-year-old child lost their lives, Sky News has reported. Eddie Scott, the governor of Clay County, announced at a press conference that the victims were targeted at three separate locations, and four of them were related to the suspect. The suspect, 24-year-old Darika M. Moore, faces first-degree murder charges, which may be elevated to capital murder along with additional charges. Investigations reveal that the seven-year-old was the second cousin of the suspect. Governor Scott stated, “I don’t know what could motivate someone to kill a seven-year-old child.” According to police reports, the suspect had pointed a gun at another child; however, it remains unclear whether that was intended as an accidental discharge or a deliberate act of murder. The suspect is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.
