TEHRAN: As widespread protests continue in Iran, several international airlines have canceled their flights to Tehran. Reports indicate that Qatar Airways, Emirates, Turkish Airlines, Austrian Airlines, Pegasus, and FlyDubai have halted services to the Iranian capital. In response to the current developments, U.S. President Donald Trump stated: “Iran is looking towards freedom and may be closer to it than ever. The U.S. is ready to help.” This escalation follows a second call from Prince Reza Pahlavi, who previously urged Iranian citizens to gather in city centers on Saturdays and Sundays at 6 PM. According to the report, a large number of individuals took to the streets in major and small cities across Iran on Saturday night, chanting slogans in support of the return of a monarchy. In a message released early Sunday morning, Prince Reza Pahlavi reaffirmed his call for public participation at 6 PM, stating that widespread citizen presence in the streets weakens the government’s repressive apparatus. He noted reports of the government facing shortages in personnel to confront the protesting crowds, with some military and security forces refusing to follow orders. He urged citizens to remain on main roads and avoid dispersing into side streets. Prince Pahlavi also highlighted that Iranians living abroad are amplifying the voices of protesters and noted the U.S. readiness to support the people of Iran. In contrast, the Iranian government has cut internet and phone services for the fourth consecutive day. Officials have labeled the protesters as “rioters” and attributed the protests to “U.S. and Israeli interference.” Despite this, field reports indicate that some citizens are using Starlink satellite internet to transmit images and information regarding the protests outside the country.
