WASHINGTON: U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio expressed support for the people of Iran in a message today. This comes after Iranian authorities cut off internet access and attempted to suppress peaceful anti-government protests across the country. Rubio stated on X, that he stands with the courageous people of Iran. Just a day earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump issued a new warning to Iranian officials, saying it would be better not to fire on protesters, as that could lead the U.S. to respond in kind. Protesters in Iran chanted anti-government slogans last night in multiple cities, including various areas of the capital, Tehran, and expressed support for Iran’s Prince Reza Pahlavi during several demonstrations.
