TEHRAN: As anti-government protests continue in Iran, reports indicate that many protesters have been killed in direct confrontations with security forces. The protests have spread to multiple cities, resulting in an increase in the death toll of protesters to 216. Videos that have emerged show angry protesters attacking a vehicle belonging to security forces, highlighting the escalating violence. Meanwhile, Iran’s supreme leader, Ali Khamenei, has characterized the ongoing protests as a foreign conspiracy and issued a directive to prevent further protest activities. Khamenei also warned U.S. President Donald Trump, stating that Trump’s hands are stained with the blood of thousands of Iranians. Previously, Trump had claimed that the Iranian government was on the brink of collapse. Additionally, several human rights monitoring organizations have called on the Iranian government to cease direct fire on protesters and instead address their demands.
