SHEBERGHAN: Taliban forces killed a former commander affiliated with Marshal Abdul Rashid Dostum on Wednesday, local sources confirmed. The incident occurred in the Khwaja Du Koh district, said the source adding that the deceased was named Yusuf Qomandan. The Taliban reportedly pulled him from a wedding gathering of a relative and then executed him with a direct gunshot to the head. Sources added that Yusuf Qomandan had been released from Taliban custody about ten days ago, having returned to Afghanistan after crossing the border from Iran. The Taliban has not yet reacted to this incident. There have been previous reports of targeting former military personnel and commanders by the Taliban. Recently, there was an attempt to assassinate “Shir Qomandan,” a former commander of the National Movement Party, in the city of Sheberghan, but he was not killed.
