WASHINGTON: President of the United States, Donald Trump recently announced that Washington has obtained 30 to 50 million barrels of sanctioned Venezuelan oil and is selling it at market prices. In a post on his social media platform, earTruth Social, early today, he noted that interim Venezuelan officials have also agreed to deliver this amount of sanctioned oil to the U.S. He wrote: “This oil will be sold at market prices, and the proceeds will be managed by me, as President of the United States, to ensure that this money benefits the people of Venezuela and the United States.” According to Trump the oil would be transported by storage vessels and directly loaded at U.S. unloading facilities. Trump wrote that Chris Wright, the U.S. Secretary of Energy, has received orders to execute this plan immediately. Based on reports and political statements from U.S. officials, the arrest of Nicolás Maduro, the President of Venezuela, is linked to Trump’s interest in the hidden wealth of the country (oil).
