WASHINGTON: A Qatari diplomat described the meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Qatar, in New York as “excellent.” Hamad Al-Muftah, deputy head of the Qatari delegation, tweeted on Saturday, saying, “An excellent dinner with President Trump has just concluded.” According to an informed source, the two-hour meeting was “very positive” and covered various topics. News Nation reported that Steve Witkoff, the U.S. Special Envoy, was also present at the meeting. Earlier, the Qatari Prime Minister had met with J.D. Vance, the U.S. Vice President, and Marco Rubio, the U.S. Secretary of State, which was also described as a “positive meeting.” The Qatari delegation’s visit to the United States came just days after an Israeli airstrike targeted Hamas leaders in Doha, leading to widespread international reactions and dissatisfaction among Arab countries, particularly given Qatar’s role as a mediator in ceasefire negotiations in Gaza.
