KABUL: According to a German media report, a group of Afghan refugees, including former employees of German institutions and individuals at risk, has been transferred to Germany on a special flight. These individuals had previously received acceptance promises from the German government. A spokesperson for “Kabul Luftbrücke” mentioned that the flight included ten families, comprising eight women and two men as primary applicants, along with other family members. Among these individuals are those who have worked in political, legal, media, and journalism sectors, as well as a doctor from the military sector. The new German government, led by Friedrich Merz, had suspended the transfer of Afghan refugees upon taking office. However, following political and legal pressures, the German Foreign Ministry announced last week that it would resume the transfer of those who had previously received acceptance promises. The ministry emphasized that from now on, Afghan refugees will be transferred via regular flights from Pakistan to Germany. Currently, around 2,000 Afghan refugees who have received acceptance promises from the German government are in Pakistan. Meanwhile, the Pakistani government has not renewed the visas of some of these individuals in recent months, returning over 200 of them to Afghanistan.
