SUDAN: A landslide has claimed the lives of at least 1,000 people, in Sudan according to the Sudan Liberation Army. According to the reports this deadly natural disaster occurred in the “Marra” mountains in Darfur, located in western Sudan, resulting in the complete destruction of a village, with only one person surviving. According to reports, the disaster was triggered by several days of heavy rainfall. Preliminary information indicates that all residents of the village, estimated to be over 1,000 people, have perished, with just one individual rescued. The Sudan Liberation Army has urged the United Nations and other international aid organizations to assist in recovering the bodies. This tragic natural event comes at a time when Sudan has been grappling with internal conflict and civil war in recent years.
