International sympathy and aid for quake hit families in Kunar and Nangarhar

The foreign ministries of Switzerland and Germany have expressed their condolences to the families of the victims of the devastating earthquake in Kunar and Nangarhar provinces. Switzerland’s Foreign Ministry announced on Monday that the country is preparing to provide assistance to the earthquake-affected individuals in eastern Afghanistan. Swiss aid will be delivered through the Swiss Foreign Ministry’s office in Kabul. At the same time, the UK has allocated £1 million to address the needs of the earthquake victims, while the United Nations has announced a $5 million aid package for those affected in Kunar and Nangarhar. Countries including India, Iran, the United Arab Emirates, China, Pakistan, and several others have also expressed their readiness to provide assistance. Meanwhile, the Taliban have called for global aid to support the victims. Recent images from Kunar province show that homes in some villages have been completely destroyed. The 6.0 magnitude earthquake, which occurred on Sunday night, has claimed over 800 lives and left thousands injured.
