Earthquakes killed over 20, injured nearly 100 in Nangarhar and Kunar

KABUL: As a result of a 6.0 magnitude earthquake in eastern Afghanistan, particularly affecting Nangarhar and Kunar provinces, resulting in significant damage.

So far, 23 people have lost their lives, and around 100 others have been injured.

The earthquake occurred late at night on Sunday. The U.S. Geological Survey reported that the quake registered at 6.0, followed by two aftershocks measuring 4.5 and 5.2.

Since the onset of this natural disaster, varying reports have emerged regarding its impact.

Local sources in Kunar and Nangarhar indicate that the casualty figures may rise.

Dara Noor district of Nangahar has suffered the most damage.

Videos shared from the incident show local residents and rescue teams working overnight to take out victims from the rubble.
