KABUL: U.S. forces have started the process of withdrawal from Iraq, beginning with the capital, Baghdad, Al Arabiya quoting reliable sources reported. While specific numbers were not mentioned, the sources indicated that Washington has made this decision to evacuate, prioritizing the centers with stronger security measures. In contrast, the U.S. embassy in Baghdad has stated that it rejects the notion of a “complete” withdrawal of American forces from Iraq. Iraqi officials have indicated that the end of the U.S. military mission in the country is based on a joint agreement. Hussein Alawi, an advisor to the Iraqi Prime Minister, pointed out the presence of terrorist groups, asserting that Iraqi forces are capable of combating these armed groups. Currently, approximately 2,500 U.S. troops remain in Iraq, but discussions regarding their withdrawal have been ongoing for the past year.
