17-year-old teenager commits suicide in Balkh

MAZAR-E-SHARIF: Local Taliban officials in Balkh have reported that a 17-year-old teenager has committed suicide in the Balkh district of the province. Mohammad Eissa Wasiq, spokesperson for the Taliban’s provincial police command, stated that the incident occurred this morning using a “Chirayi” weapon. He added that the reason for the suicide is still unclear and investigations are ongoing. No further details about the identity of the teenager have been provided. Since the Taliban’s return to power in Afghanistan, there has been a significant increase in suicide cases among young girls and boys. Unemployment, economic difficulties, hopelessness about the future, and mental health issues are cited as major reasons for these suicides.
