KABUL: The Taliban forces have arrested a number of tribal elders in Badakhshan province, said local sources. Sources confirmed to the media on Wednesday, that these individuals were detained following a deadly clash between the Taliban and residents of the Khastak area in the Jurm district. According to the sources, those arrested are residents of the Pul area and have been transferred to the city of Faizabad by the Taliban. A few days ago, clashes erupted between the Taliban and local residents, resulting in at least two deaths and dozens of injuries. Taliban officials have not yet commented on the matter. Local sources indicate that the conflict over grazing land between the Taliban and local residents continues, with recent incidents occurring multiple times. Reports suggest that the Taliban have intensified pressure on the residents of Badakhshan, and their discriminatory actions have repeatedly led to protests and confrontations.
