KABUL: Amnesty International has stated that the Taliban’s justice system is built on fear rather than justice. In a statement released on Thursday, the organization highlighted that former judges, lawyers, and human rights defenders have shared examples of oppression and injustice under Taliban rule. Amnesty International has urged countries worldwide to pressure the Taliban to end four years of injustice in Afghanistan. The statement noted that since the Taliban regained power in 2021, the people of Afghanistan have faced severe restrictions. These include limitations on freedom of expression, assembly, and women’s participation in politics, as well as torture, arbitrary detention, and physical punishments. According to the organization, those who have been victims of these actions do not have access to justice. The Taliban has yet to respond to this report.
