KABUL: Just Security Magazine reports that Afghan civil society has initiated a new campaign against the Taliban regime, an effort taking place in a challenging global environment for democracy and human rights. According to the magazine, despite severe restrictions and a lack of attention from the international community, Afghan activists continue to resist the Taliban, drawing international attention to their efforts. Additionally, Germany’s recent decision to resume the process of repatriating Afghan refugees, along with the transfer of Afghanistan’s embassy in Berlin, has been viewed as a serious threat by Taliban opponents and democratic forces in exile. This comes at a time when direct talks between the U.S. and the Taliban, along with the Doha Agreement, paved the way for the fall of the republic and the Taliban’s return to power. It is important to note that since the Taliban’s resurgence in Afghanistan, numerous restrictions have been imposed on women and girls.
