KABUL: The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) has urged people to report any requests for money, assistance, or inappropriate behavior encountered while accessing humanitarian aid, emphasizing that these services are always free and a legal right of the people. In a statement, UNAMA noted that humanitarian and development assistance, including food, shelter, healthcare, education, and other support, is provided unconditionally, and no one has the right to demand money or favors in exchange for these services. UNAMA mentioned that a network has been established to prevent exploitation and sexual abuse to protect the dignity and safety of recipients. Humanitarian organizations are obligated to provide their services with respect, fairness, and kindness, and they must not make inappropriate requests, threaten, or disrespect individuals. The office has called on people to confidentially report any instances of exploitation to UNAMA. Individuals can provide information through the 410 hotline or through trusted personnel in local agencies. UNAMA and its partners aim to ensure that humanitarian assistance is delivered transparently, equitably, and with dignity. Establishing a reporting system and monitoring the conduct of service providers are part of efforts to prevent exploitation and enhance public trust in humanitarian aid.
