KABUL: The Afghanistan International network has reported that the United States has opposed the travel of Amir Khan Muttaqi, the Taliban’s Foreign Minister, and has blocked his travel exemption. According to a statement from the UN Security Council’s sanctions committee, India has withdrawn its request for a travel exemption for Muttaqi to New Delhi. Earlier, Afghan media had reported that India had invited Amir Khan Muttaqi for an official visit, but this invitation has now been cancelled. Amir Khan Muttaqi is on the UN Security Council’s sanctions and travel ban list. Previously, on August 4, 2025, the Security Council also opposed his travel to Pakistan. Radio Mashaal in Islamabad cited Pakistani sources stating that the Security Council has not permitted this travel. So far, Taliban officials have not reacted to this development. Zabihullah Mujahid, the group’s spokesperson, did not answer reporters’ questions on this matter during a press conference in Kabul today.
