KABUL: Military sources in Pakistan have confirmed the transfer of the bodies of approximately 50 Afghan nationals affiliated with the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), who were killed in clashes with the Pakistani army, to Taliban officials in Paktika. Images show that the bodies were transported by ambulance and accompanied by Taliban convoys. The identities of the deceased are currently being verified, and once confirmed, the bodies will be handed over to their families. The Pakistani army announced that the deceased were members of the Hafiz Gul Bahadur faction, known for carrying out deadly attacks against Pakistani security forces. This transfer of bodies has once again highlighted the presence of TTP in Afghanistan. The Pakistani Foreign Minister, in a meeting with Taliban representatives, urged them to sever ties with the TTP and take concrete actions against the group. The Chinese Foreign Minister also expressed Beijing’s concerns regarding the activities of the “East Turkestan Group” and called for their expulsion. Pakistan’s representative to the UN Security Council described the estimated 6,000 TTP fighters in Afghanistan as the most immediate threat to the country’s security. UN experts have emphasized that Afghanistan, under Taliban rule, has become a safe haven for foreign terrorist groups, threatening regional stability.
