GREECE: International media reports indicate that a wildfire near the city of Patras in western Greece is spreading rapidly, forcing thousands of people to evacuate their homes. According to Reuters, the wildfire is still uncontrolled and expanding moment by moment. Currently, around 5,000 firefighters and 33 aircraft are engaged in efforts to contain the blaze. The wildfire broke out in various regions of Greece yesterday and is now spreading towards the country’s coast. Reports also mention that temperatures have risen in different areas due to the fire, with dozens of people being transported to hospitals due to heavy smoke inhalation. It is noted that such wildfires globally are often attributed to climate change and the occurrence of sudden strong winds.
