KABUL: Sima Samar, the former chief of the Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission, marked the fourth anniversary of the Taliban’s return to power by urging the people of Afghanistan not to lose hope, emphasizing that “no dictatorial regime is sustainable.” Describing August 15, 2021, as the darkest day for the people and herself, she expressed respect for the resilience of Afghan women against pressures and restrictions, hoping that this resistance continues. Samar noted that this struggle is not only about women’s rights; it is tied to the fate of over 40 million people, especially children.
