KABUL: The Afghanistan Taekwondo Federation has announced that the national team has headed to Kazakhstan to participate in international open taekwondo competitions. According to a statement from the federation, the Afghan national team consists of 13 athletes and 2 coaches. The team will compete in two categories: youth and adults. The youth team includes: Firdous Bahawi, Tamim-ur-Rahman Rahmani, Mohamad Matin Amini, Hakim-ud-Din Akid, Basit Soofi Zada, Sadis Sikandar and the adult team comprises: Ihsan Rahimi, Azad Beg Noorzi, Mohsen Rezai, Hikmatullah Zain, Bijan Sadrzada, Omid Sahag, Mohammad Ashraf Shakran and Ali Akbar Amiri. According to the Taekwondo Federation, the weigh-in for all adult weight categories will take place on August 13, with competitions scheduled for August 14. The youth weigh-in will occur on August 14, with all their matches to be held on August 15. It is noteworthy that over 750 athletes from around the world will participate in the open taekwondo championships in Kazakhstan.
