This incident follows reports from the previous day of a 15-year-old girl and a 13-year-old boy also committing suicide in the area. While the exact reasons for Bilal’s suicide remain unclear, local residents cite rising unemployment, economic difficulties, and a sense of hopelessness about the future as major contributing factors to these incidents. Suicide rates among youth in Afghanistan have significantly increased in recent years. Human rights organizations attribute this rise to unemployment, economic challenges, psychological pressures, and despair regarding the future.
