GAZA: Five employees of Al Jazeera, including Arabic-language journalist Anas Al-Sharif and his colleague, have been confirmed killed in an Israeli strike. Al Jazeera reported that the Israeli military conducted a targeted attack, resulting in the deaths of two journalists and three video crew members in Gaza. The journalists, Anas Al-Sharif and Mohammad Qariqa, were killed in a targeted strike on Sunday. The video journalists included Ibrahim Zaher, Mohammad Nofal, and Mumin Aliwa, who were part of a team providing reports primarily from northern Gaza. According to AFP, the journalists were in their work tent when they came under attack. The Israeli regime confirmed the strike against Al Jazeera journalists, with officials labeling Anas Al-Sharif as a “terrorist in journalist’s clothing.” The Israeli military stated on its Telegram channel that Al-Sharif was leading a Hamas terror cell responsible for missile attacks against Israel. Hamas, which is engaged in conflict with the Israeli regime in Gaza, is designated as a terrorist organization by the U.S. and other countries. However, Al Jazeera has rejected these allegations, asserting that Al-Sharif was a journalist dedicated to reporting on the plight of the people in Gaza. Since the onset of the conflict in Gaza, ten journalists and media workers from Al Jazeera have been killed. Reports of escalating violence in Gaza come as the United Nations Security Council condemned plans to expand operations in the region during a special meeting held late Sunday. The UN has stated that nearly every resident of Gaza has been displaced due to the two-year conflict and is in need of humanitarian assistance.
