KABUL: The Pakistani Foreign Ministry has confirmed that the visit of Amir Khan Muttaqi, the acting Foreign Minister of the Taliban, to Islamabad has been delayed, with no specific date set yet. A spokesperson from the ministry stated that information would be shared with the media once a date is determined. Previously, the Pakistani newspaper Dawn reported that the United States initially postponed and then canceled Muttaqi’s travel exemption. Diplomatic sources told the newspaper that U.S. opposition was the primary reason for the cancellation, unrelated to Security Council restrictions. In recent years, Pakistan has expressed concerns about the increasing activities of the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), which are reportedly planned from Afghan territory. Meanwhile, China and Russia have expanded their relations with the Taliban, while the U.S. continues to raise concerns over human rights, particularly regarding women in Afghanistan.
