JALALABAD: The Nangarhar local sources said that a female doctor named “Ziba” has been killed by unidentified armed individuals in Jalalabad, the provincial capital. The incident occurred around 8:30 AM on Sunday, in the Alfat Mina area of the seventh district of Jalalabad. A relative of the 28-year-old doctor stated that she worked in the obstetrics department of the Nangarhar provincial hospital. She was shot while waiting for her vehicle near the Taliban’s police headquarters. The Taliban’s police command in Nangarhar confirmed the murder, stating that the perpetrators fled the scene. Sayed Tayeb Hamad, spokesperson for the Taliban’s police command, added that the motive for the killing is still unclear and investigations are ongoing. Since the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan, instances of murder in various parts of the country have increased. In many cases, the perpetrators are reported as “unidentified armed individuals,” and the Taliban provides limited information about identifying and punishing them.
