MOSCOW: Kremlin-affiliated politicians and experts have downplayed the significance of the U.S. deploying two nuclear submarines near Russia. U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Friday that the submarines had been moved to a suitable location. According to a report from the DPA news agency, Leonid Ivlev, Deputy Speaker of the Russian Parliament (Duma), stated to the TASS news agency that the deployment of the two nuclear submarines does not pose a threat to Russia’s national security. Trump had placed the submarines near Russia following disagreements with Russian officials. Last week, he gave Russian President Vladimir Putin a deadline of 10 to 12 days to end the conflict in Ukraine, threatening to impose sanctions if he failed to comply.
