Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian arrives in Pakistan

KABUL: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian arrived in Pakistan today for his first official foreign visit. According to Pakistani media reports, Pezeshkian was welcomed in Lahore by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Nawaz Sharif, and Maryam Nawaz upon his arrival at the city’s international airport. This official visit aims to enhance bilateral relations and discuss economic, security, and regional cooperation. This is the first foreign trip for the new Iranian president since taking office. During the visit, senior officials from both countries are expected to discuss strengthening political and economic cooperation, combating smuggling, border issues, and energy and transit matters. While further details of Pezeshkian’s official meetings and possible discussions with Pakistani officials have not yet been released, analysts view this trip as a step toward enhancing Iran’s role in the region and improving relations with neighboring countries.
