WASHINGTON: President Donald Trump stated that if Iran reactivates its nuclear program, the U.S. will respond with military action “faster than the blink of an eye.” In response, Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s Foreign Minister, warned that any aggression would be met with a decisive and undeniable response. Trump emphasized that the U.S. had previously destroyed Iran’s nuclear capabilities, asserting that it would eliminate any renewed efforts quickly. Araghchi pointed out that the illegal bombing of Iran’s nuclear facilities demonstrated that military solutions are not viable, and negotiations could be effective instead. The spokesperson for Iran’s Foreign Ministry affirmed that Iran’s nuclear program, including enrichment activities, continues as they await reports from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). Iran is also prepared to continue cooperation with the IAEA, with technical negotiations scheduled to take place soon. Ebrahim Rezaei, spokesperson for the National Security Commission of Parliament, announced that if the “snapback” mechanism is activated, Iran would withdraw from the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT). Additionally, the three European countries (the UK, France, and Germany) have warned that if Iran does not reach a new nuclear agreement within the next four weeks, previous UN Security Council sanctions will be reinstated.
