KABUL: The chairman of the Asian Cricket Council, Mohsin Naqvi, has announced that the 2023 Asia Cup T20 tournament will kick off on September 9 and run until September 28 and this year’s tournament will be hosted by the United Arab Emirates instead of India. This year, eight teams will participate in the Asia Cup, including Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, and Hong Kong. In Group A, India, Pakistan, Oman, and the United Arab Emirates are placed, while Group B consists of Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Hong Kong. According to the schedule, the Afghan team will play their first match against Hong Kong on September 9. Originally, the 2025 Asia Cup was set to take place in India, but due to recent tensions and ongoing diplomatic issues between India and Pakistan, the tournament will now be held in the United Arab Emirates.
