U.S. Special Forces officer: I resigns over civilian attacks in Gaza

WASHINGTON: A former U.S. Special Forces officer, who was hired to work with the “Gaza Humanitarian Foundation”—a group supported by the U.S. and Israel that distributes food aid in Gaza—told the BBC that he had never witnessed such brutal violence against civilians during his service. The officer, Anthony Aguilar, worked alongside the Israeli military and American contractors at aid distribution centers managed by the foundation. He stated that he resigned from his position after witnessing attacks with mortars and tanks on desperate crowds searching for food. While Israel and the foundation insist that their forces do not target civilians, the United Nations reports that over a thousand Palestinians have been killed since May while attempting to obtain food from distribution centers. A significant portion of these fatalities occurred near facilities managed by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation.
