ISLAMABAD: Following heavy rainfall and flooding in various parts of Pakistan, more than 250 people have lost their lives, and at least 600 others have been injured. The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has reported that children have been the most affected by this disaster. In the latest incident, floods in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa claimed the lives of 13 individuals, including 9 children, and damaged thousands of homes and agricultural land. Local authorities have warned that rainfall is expected to continue, with the possibility of further flooding. Affected areas include Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh, Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), and Islamabad. Over 850 homes across the country have been damaged, with 209 completely destroyed and 645 partially damaged. Additionally, at least 12 bridges and more than 18 kilometers of roads have been washed away due to the flooding. The NDMA has urged all responsible agencies to remain on high alert and has advised the public to take warnings seriously, avoid unnecessary travel, and stay away from hazardous areas such as power lines and riverbeds. Tourists have also been advised to refrain from traveling to mountainous regions for the time being. The NDMA has suggested that citizens install and follow the official app of the authority for alerts and immediate information.
