GAZA: The World Health Organization (WHO) reported that Israeli forces attacked its staff headquarters and medical warehouse in Deir al-Balah, central Gaza, yesterday. This incident coincided with an escalation of Israeli military operations in the region. Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the Director-General of WHO, stated that the headquarters was hit three times, resulting in damage to the main warehouse, which subsequently caught fire. He further noted that Israeli forces interrogated staff members and their families, detaining some, with 32 individuals being transferred to the organization’s headquarters. The attacks have significantly reduced the WHO’s operational capacity in Gaza, worsening the health crisis. Medical supplies are dwindling, making it increasingly difficult to support hospitals. The WHO has called for the release of detainees, the assurance of staff safety, and an immediate ceasefire.
