TEHRAN: Ahmad Masoumi Far, head of the Iran’s Foreign Ministry representation in Khorasan Razavi, announced that the deadline for Afghan migrants to exit Iran has been extended until September 6. He stated that after this date, migrants remaining in Iran without legal documentation would be subject to residency fines. Masoumi Far cited inadequate infrastructure and adverse weather conditions as reasons for the extension, emphasizing that Afghan citizens with legal documents can reside in Iran. However, some Afghan migrants have reported that Iranian police have torn up their residency documents and forcibly expelled them from the country, even after they presented their legal papers to security forces.
